Month in Review: January 2017

This week I tried a new template from Scrapping with Liz at The Lilypad. For one of my daughter’s albums, I included a page at the beginning of each month to showcase a variety of photos (about thumbnail size) as an overview of the month. I thought it would be fun to do something similar for our family album. This album focuses more on all of us and the very things that make us who we are as a family.

The template is for a double page layout, so this page will be printed into 2 separate pages and placed as a spread in the album. It is rare I create them. It is no different than creating a single page layout; the main difference is making sure your background lines up the same across both pages, especially if you’re printing in a bound book.

For this layout, I used the following digital supplies:

Creating with black and white photos is also a bit less stressful. I don’t have to worry about the colors in the photos matching one another or having the same editing style. I just chose my favorite preset and went with it for all of them. By adding a soft light layer between 30-50% opacity, I was able to increase the contrast a bit more. Digital scrapbooking may look (and even sound) a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it can be easy as pie and a great way to document your memories and family’s history.
