Chalkboard and Flowers

Chalkboard… obsession or trend? I cannot seem to decide. There are so many things that I love to see in scrapbook projects and so many are being used all over the galleries I frequent. I have even included the chalkboard style items in my project life album for 2013 (see here and here) and have even bought a few of the chalkboard inspired paper products. I decided to buy two more of the project life binders (here and here). They were on sale and I really liked the colors plus I needed the woodgrain style of the brown one for my 2013 album. To start it off, I decided to create a page about our family with a family photo. There are not many photos with all three of us in them, so this one has a lot of meaning to me in a few different ways. I really wanted to make a page as special as I felt that day.

I bought these black glitter alphabets a while ago when my daughter and I were walking around an office supply store. I had been waiting for just the right time to use them. I was also inspired by this page at the Two Peas in a Bucket gallery. I took my time and started cutting the little strips of paper for the little banner. I told a friend of mine that this was actually more calming that digital scrapbook. Sure it can get messy but just being able to lay everything out and move at whatever speed I wanted to, instead of waiting on a program, it was a nice change of pace. I experimented a little and use some paint with my stamp. I have a few stamp pads but I just wanted to see how it would turn out. It took a few tries but I like how the camera stamp looked with the paint. I really wanted to do some painting on the background but decided to save that for another day. I figure with cutting all of the little strips I had put in enough work and tears (lol!).

Another thing I decided to do was type my journaling. At first I just had it tucked in and I was going to make a “read here” tab but after taking photos of my page, I just decided to line it up with the photo. I really love how it turned out. I feel like I am getting the hang of this the more that I do it. I can already tell that the way I start a page with digital is much different when I have actual product in my reach. It is definitely adventure… I will say that!
