Scrapbooking + Personality

So I have been scrapbooking a little bit… just a little and I have a few fun projects to share..soon. [icon name=”icon-smile”] In the midst of getting ready for next week, I managed to make time to scrap a little.  Usually when I have a lot on my mind, it is hard to be creative. Still need to finish up last year’s project life album but I cannot help but to scrap some of my most recent photos. Sometimes I wonder if it is overkill to have so many pages about my child… but she is the center of my world. Great reason, right? Lately, I have been trying to make sure I do not fall into what I call a “scrapping rut.” You know…where everything you create starts to look alike. I am very routine individual so this could start to happen easily and I not even notice until it is too late.

I have seen some change in my pages over the years -more focus on the photos and definitely, a lot more color. I would like to do more with my pages. I want to experiment with different techniques that I do not normally use and try to achieve some of the things I see in paper scrapbooking and love. I love love to see a page with the worn or tattered edges. With just the right paper, it looks so chic and modern…and I just love it. I do not know why. I have yet to seen that re-created in digital in a way that just grabs me. Maybe that will be my challenge for next week. Every time I try to experiment I get discouraged before I even get halfway through. I guess I just need to push on through it and see what happens.

First page I want to share is with the photos from meet the teacher night. I saw this kit and some amazing pages in the gallery at Sweet Shoppe Designs..just know I needed to use it. Plus, it had all of the fun, girly colors that just scream “I am full of spunk.”

Then, this next page is about Miss Frowny Face’s aversion to my camera (lol!). Sometimes it just drives her up a wall when she sees I have camera. Most times she welcomes it and ask for photos. I just figure one day she will be glad to see these photos and get a good idea of how her personality was at each stage of her life. I can look back on photos and remember how I felt at that period of time. It really gives you perspective on how you became the person you grow up to become.  I mean, that’s why I take photos and make these pages and even.. why I blog.

This last page is just about the latest addiction in our household. I have loved each portion of the “Days of Week” collection created by Sugarplum Paperie (Nicole) and Mari Koegelenberg, and I had to use this one. For some reason, notebook papers..graph papers…and anything similar always call to me to be used as my main background. Then I wanted to play around with some shapes to include more of the papers from the kit.

Scrapbooking is the one hobby I have held on to for a length of time. I will admit to my commitment issues; I can be very indecisive. I love being able to start with a blank canvas and see how the memories will affect the end result of a page. I can experiment with the world of color as much or as little as I like and change it up with every page.
