The Journey : Scrapbook Layout + Free Template

A little over a year ago, we were in Georgia to visit and celebrate a summer holiday with our family. It was nice to feel “at home” and comfortable and share some laughs with loved ones. It was my son’s 2nd time meeting everyone, but it probably felt more like a first time to him. He looked at everyone with a sideways glance the moment we arrived at my sister and brother-in-law’s home. I am sure he was surprised to see a few people felt familiar to him. After examining everyone’s faces, having a bath, and a meal, he started to get comfortable and ready to play. That is the moment I wanted to preserve with this scrapbook layout. For this layout, I used the following digital goods:

He had no idea what a car was at the time. Now that he is 2 years old, he is head over heels with trucks and cars. He says those words too well, and all day long. There are always at least 3 or 4 vehicles near him or in his arms during the day. Somehow he managed to find some YouTube videos of trucks being constructed and some videos where they use trucks to teach the colors, numbers, and names of fruits. I have no idea how he finds them.  I usually lead him to Sesame Street. I guess that got old since there were not any trucks or cars constantly on the screen.

On to the good stuff: Today I have a free template just for you. I converted my layout above and thought I would share it here. It can be used as a starting point for your own page or you can follow the design as is. It is not often that I use templates, but they come in handy when I am having a hard time getting creative. I certainly don’t always use them just as they are. I may remove some items, change the location of certain things, rotate it, enlarge it or shrink it,  whatever it takes to make the layout feel more like me.

To download, you can click the image above or click here. The template is included in PSD, TIFF, and PNG format. I saved the shadows on the layers, so that you can get an idea of how I shadowed the layout. A few of the layers don’t have a shadow effect applied and that is how it was intended. I have been experimenting with this for a little while (no shadows on the layer directly above the paper) and it seems to have found it’s way in my routine.

One more thing: I want to share a link to the preview of a new class on Creative Live that airs today. This link will take you to the Facebook video posted by Creative Live with Tiffany Tillman-Emanuel. It was shared on my feed and I was like, “Oh wait, is that her?!” Of course, I dropped what I was doing to check it out and I cannot wait to see when the actual class airs. I loved her energy and how she creates her works of art. Yes, art. Her digital scrapbook pages are much different than my own. I can only dream of being as creative as her. If you are into mixed media, blending, or want to learn something new about digital scrapbooking, check out her classes that will be airing today (Mixed Media for Digital Scrapbookers) and tomorrow (Compositing for Digital Scrapbookers). The live broadcast is free to watch and you can also purchase this class through Creative Live to get her workbook for each of these courses and access them anytime.

Thanks for visiting!!
