National Scrapbook Day

6 May 2018 | Scrapbooking

Yesterday was the day for all scrapbookers to celebrate their craft. There are sales, games, challenges all weekend and it is for the most part a fun time.

It is also a hectic time. So much to see and so much to decide what you want to buy and make sure you do not purchase a duplicate item.

Me. Well, I did it this time. I bought 2 kits that I already owned. I check everything twice and somehow missed these two. Mainly, because I had not unzipped them and they were in a separate waiting folder than my other unzipped files.

Before my little shopping spree, I did get a chance to create a few pages of my own.

I had fun creating this one. Scrapping with Liz’s templates were a great start for this page. I wanted it full of color and fun elements that captured the spirit of my daughter. The Lilypad’s collaboration kit for the NSD was full of so many wonderful items. I can see myself using them again for another look on a different layout. To create this one, I used the following digital products:

The first layout I created with the Snapshot collab was this one. I just loved this paper with the heart cameras but I did not want the pattern covering the background completely. I decided to do a fill layer using that same shade of white for the top half of my background. This is definitely one of my favorite pages of the weekend. Only part I of the Snapshots collab was used and it was a part of The Lilypad blog hop.

This layout is another favorite. The template set EZ Pages v.1 by Erica Zane was used in creation of this page. I removed all of the shadow and replaced the stitches with my go-to stitches from my stash. I bought them years ago and still use them. The scrapbook kit that I used that has all of these gorgeous patterned papers is by Studio Basic Designs, Create Your Own Sunshine. I clipped the papers to the template shapes and then reduced the opacity of the shapes to about 70-80%. I wanted the vibrant color, but I also wanted it to look a little washed out. In place of one of the papers at the bottom, I decided to use a label in its place and the music note paper. Also, I incorporated a couple of the journal cards from the set because I loved them too.

For this last layout, I used another of Scrapping with Liz’s templates from set 1 of the Poised Templates and the Boom: Elements and Patterns + Backgrounds by Allison Pennington. Anything Allison makes, I just have to use it. It was a fun kit to use, especially those patterned papers. I probably tried all of them before I decided which ones I wanted to combine together.

Until next time, happy scrapping!
