Video | How to Save for the Web + Print

5 Apr 2015 | Scrapbooking

One of the first things I would like to share about my process is how I save my digital layouts. When I first started digital scrapbooking, I did not post much online. The more I interacted in forums, the more I wanted to share my creations. I had no idea why some of my Scrap Idols pages looked so much better than mine. Of course, design, color palette, photo quality and all of that played a part, but I knew there was something else. There had to be! I am not sure when or how but I figured out it was the sharpening. I had no idea I needed to sharpen my layouts once I was done with them. What would that do to them? How would that change the look of them? No matter how many improvements I made on my technique, I knew I had to get the sharpening process down to a science. No matter how my pages looked, they were missing that extra punch of color and clarity.

For a while, I used a high pass filter and then I tried the unsharp mask filter. I started to get closer to the look I desired to achieve. Then, I discovered adjustment layers and just what more they could add. One thing led to another and I eventually created an action to save my layouts just how I like them. That’s what this video is all about. All of the little nuances and intricacies that I pay attention to while sharing just how I sharpen my completed scrapbook layouts.
