Chasing Your Dreams

When I had my first child,  I knew that I wanted to give her the world. I wanted to make sure she knows that she can do and be what she desires. Looking at the current state of our nation, I am not sure what it will be like after these next four years. These past few weeks I have been trying to get my thoughts straight and keep a positive outlook. Reading and see so many stories being shared that are affecting adults and even children makes it hard to see when the good will come out of this.

Either way though.. life has never been easy for African-Americans. Taken from their homes and families and forced to work for people while being treated horribly, our ancestors did the best that they could. They fought hard and did not give up and I am so incredibly thankful for that. All of their fight plus all the accomplishments African-Americans continue with makes me hopeful. You can reach for those dreams. Maybe we need to make more of “own” … homes, schools, jobs, businesses, neighborhoods… and thrive as I know we can if we all can work together. It is those old teachings from hundreds of years ago that kept our ancestors apart when they were brought to this unknown land. Some of those same ideals are ingrained in us… almost as if it was written on our DNA… and it keeps us from working together and supporting one another. Any time I see someone doing well, it makes me happy. It gives me hope. These sentiments are what inspired my scrapbook page that I am sharing today.

For this page, I used a gorgeous new kit called Chasing Dreams by Sugary Fancy Designs and WendyP Designs at Sweet Shoppe. Instead of an all white background, I chose one with pink bits of paint splatter and chose a couple of pattern papers to complement it. I love this color scheme. I have actually dabbled with it before when creating one of my many blog makeovers, so I was excited to use it for this page.

It is Saturday night here and I am off to do this head of hair of mine. Thanks for visiting!
