Christmas kits start appearing in abundance in the digital scrapbook around November, particularly during the Friday after Thanksgiving. I have plenty of Christmas photos I have not scrapped, but I always feel like the photos during December get a bit looked over. When I saw this new set of Newsletter Templates by Scrapping with Liz, I thought about how could I use them. How could I get the most out of them? We don’t make family newsletters. I talk to my family several times during the week, so near or far, they know what is going on with us. For my son’s first year book, I had been doing milestone pages and had fell off from creating them. What better time to rectify this situation, right? Since it was the Christmas season and our tree was up, I figured I would use a Christmas kit. So many beautiful products were released for the Document Your December sale at The Lilypad and I knew I would find the perfect set.
For the layout, I chose to use the following products by Sahlin Studio: Oh What Fun | Journal Cards and Kit + December Days No 2 (Numbers). I wanted to keep things simple. In Photoshop CC, I used the Surface Blur filter to clean up the paper textures and in some areas I just used a solid color fill. Also, I used a combination of these two techniques to extend the length of the journal card so that I could use it for my milestone list. I love that it is festive to show what time of the year it was and it works perfectly as an account of those “sweet baby” days I miss.
If you love what you see and would like to create a few gorgeous page of your own, The Lilypad’s New Release sale of the week is here and there are some fabulous surprise bundles in there. Also, there is a 40-60% off Black Friday sale you don’t want to miss.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. I know my little family of four did. We all contributed to our “feast” as my daughter used to call it and had a good time spending the day together.
Thanks for visiting and have a good Friday!!
