Mother of an 8-Year Old

About 10 days ago, I became the mother of an 8-year old. She was very excited about her birthday. Although it had been warm the days leading up to her birthday, it rained and the temperature dropped to the 30s-40s and the sun disappeared a bit. I knew it’d be too good to be true. We took her on a bit of a road trip to Legoland in Schaumburg, IL. It was smaller and a bit different from the other Lego parks, so we will definitely have to try to take her to experience one of the bigger parks. Hubster has been itching to get to the west coast, so I am sure we could find lots of fun things to get into.  She did enjoy the one in Illinois, though.

I bought her the cutest little birthday cake headband and had her wear it all day. She kept taking it off. I keep urging her to keep it on and let people know she’s celebrating. She got quite a few birthday wishes and she was all smiles. It does not take a lot to make her happy. It really makes it so easy to want to give her whatever it is she wants. I have to watch myself with that, though.

Surprisingly, it has not taken me a month or so to create a scrapbook page of one of her photos from the day. Birthdays are usually the hardest for me to scrap because I want those pages to be perfect.

I had fun creating this one. I started building my page based on the idea of finding a way to incorporate Sahlin Studio’s Butterflies: Drawn & Spritz Bundle within a layout. Today only (May 25th) the bundle is on sale at half price. Along with it, I used the following to create my layout:

Lovely Day Elements + Status Patterns-and-Backgrounds – Allison Pennington

Memory Pockets Monthly: Status / April 2016 – The Lilypad Pocket Designers

Thanks for visiting!! Happy Wednesday!!
