About a year ago we were getting ready for the school week that all parents love – Spirit Week. That is what our elementary school called it. You know, that week where you have to buy all of the fun things for silly hat day, crazy hair day, storybook character day, favorite sports team day, dress like yourself at 100 day, superhero day, drive your mama crazy day. Kidding about the last one, but that was how I felt. The school sent home flyers, emails, voicemails, and daily Facebook reminders about the fun events of each day. It was more stressful than anything. I did not want to spend money on something my daughter would only use for one day. Last year though I felt a little different. I wanted my daughter to at least enjoy participating in most of the days as simply as possible. Simple… I probably should have thrown that idea out of the window. Anything I showed my daughter that could work, she did not like. We ended up leaving quite a few things at the store.

The one thing these two did decide on was costumes. We hadn’t bought Halloween costumes in years and I figured whatever we picked up for superhero day could serve as double-duty. Baby boy was obsessed with Spider-Man, so we found him a Spider-Man costume. He still wears that costume to this day. I was just happy the material was strong enough to last this long. Baby Girl chose a Wonder Woman costume.

I definitely think the most fun part of the whole trip for them was trying on and playing with all of the cool things in the party store.

For these photos, I decided to use them on a scrapbook layout to remember the moment. Looking back at it now, this was our last school year in Wisconsin and the last time baby girl would enjoy the festivities as a Coyote. To create this layout I used the Wonderful Things template by Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs. I changed a few things up a little and added some things here and there. A template is good to use as a starting point, but never let it limit you. I knew I had 4 photos I wanted to use, so I knew right away which one I wanted to use from the set. The digital kit and journaling cards that I used is by One Little Bird and is called Life in Pieces. It was a part of the September Build Your Own Collection. The colors were neutral and fun to use together and came together perfectly for my photos. For the title, I used one of my favorite brush scripts, Faith and Glory.
