The new weekly Trend Watch Challenge is up at The Lilypad and this week the focus is triangles. There is also a corresponding sale on any items related to the theme of the week. I definitely have a thing for triangles on my pages, so I had to give this challenge a try. The first 3 items in my credits list are from this week’s sale and I combined them with a few things I already had. Speaking of that, if you have not been following, TLP has had an awesome promotion going on this month called “We Are Storytellers.” Parts to a free collaboration kit have been given out daily and there are challenges and tutorials being posted throughout the week. I just had to use that kit for this challenge. It is packed full of goodies and it was a task choosing what to use without overcrowding my page.
For my layout, I decided to start with Amy’s template, Shaped Up: Triangles and I enlarged the main set of triangles. I knew I wanted some type of stamp or brush on the background, which is where Kim Jensen’s Geo Cut Page Mats came in handy; I recolored one of the triangle-shaped mats to white and changed the blend mode and dropped the opacity down to about 60%. I mostly used the yellows and blues for this page and added the red as an accent. The elements were just placed randomly. I tried to make sure they were not too clustered together but I also did not want them spread out to much on the page. I wanted a little blank space around the page just so I would not feel it was too crowded.
Annnnddd… I just had to do one more page about baby boy and going home. Seems like all of my latest pages have been about the birth of my son and it is time to switch it up again, and get back to catching up on all those photos I have edited that are ready to be scrapped. Anyway, here is my page…..
That’s all from me for now. I am going to try to squeeze in some “me” time and read some more of Game of Thrones, book 5. Ohhh….I will have to blog about my obsession…this show has me hooked. :)
