Must Take Photos

Yes. I am that mom. I always have some sort of camera with me. I like taking photos when the moment strikes me. I have a bad memory and it is a great way to remember the days behind me. We went to Aida’s favorite park today. It was very last minute. I am the only person in my home that makes an effort to get out of the house. The other two will stay indoors until the apocalypse. It drives me insane. I want my child to get out and experience life; not spend her days on the computer or iPad or just cooped up indoors with her toys. Weekends were always time for my family to do things…go places…see people. Now, we do not have anyone to visit up here but gee….we can leave these four walls for a few hours or so.

Anywho, my guy wanted to know why I decided to go so late and my daughter was just anxious to get the park. I drove this time. I am trying to get used to not always relying on Google Maps. Some things I have started to remember, and it is sad to say that I know Downtown Madison better than I ever knew Downtown Birmingham. We took a walk down State Street. Denard thought he was going to indulge in a Five Guys hamburger only to discover they are renovating. I really only wanted to go down there to get a feel for street photography. Needless to say, his being down about not getting what he wanted turned into a quick walk back to the car. It was several blocks but we covered it much more quickly than the time it took us to get down that street. So, I would have to say the best part was Aida at the park.

I always get stares at the park when I whip out my big camera, but I never really care. I always make sure to not get any photos of other children. Aida even makes it a game of trying to avoid the camera to see if I can get a photo. I usually get one though; she is not quick enough…yet. :) These are a few of the photos I got. I actually love these photos. I have been trying to find my ‘voice’ in my photography and I think…think… I am getting a teensy bit closer. I love rich, deep color…always will.

This last photo was taken on the 3rd of July on our way to see the fireworks. So glad I went back through those photos because I love this one.

Thank you! I know, I need her to slow down on the growing up. :)ReplyCancel

  • Seriously gorgeous photos. I struggle with blurriness and frequently admire your photos for their richness and crisp images. Any tips for me?ReplyCancel

Thank you Angela!! It has taken me quite a bit of practice to get to this point. I usually get richer colors when I shoot during and after sunset and I use some adjustment layers in Photoshop to enhance. For sharpness, I toggle my focus points when shooting in manual and make sure the shutter speed is 1/160 or above depending on if my subject is moving; some of it happens when I save for web.ReplyCancel
